Land in
Kyuso is owned by the community. Demarcation of land has never been done.
Members of the community have always allocated themselves portions of land to
the chagrin of others.
Ministry of
lands in 2008 intervened and helped the community to divide its land. Currently
the land tribunal sits in kyuso to adjudicate on matters arising out of this
exercise.

In Kyuso B, land
is under demarcation and survey work is ongoing. About 1400 parcels of land have
been surveyed and demarcated up to date, only waiting for issuance of title deeds. Residents are happy that they now have parcel
numbers as they wait for formal issuance of title deeds.
Within the
town section, 1500 plots have been demarcated.
Kamuw’ongo
adjudication section is under the same process. About 1300 plots have been
demarcated and people have been given the numbers. This applies to Gai centre
Residents of
Kyuso district are wary of issues that have ever surrounded land offices. They
fear being taken in circles until they part with some money for them to be
given this precious document. Although they are optimistic that they will be
issued with them, delay of the same has denied them opportunities to use titles
as securities in securing credit. They also hope to use this document as
sureties in cases pending in court.
It is hoped
that when this exercise is complete, boundary disputes will be resolved
together with reducing cases of some family members selling land without the
consent of the rest.
