A look at Kyuso health facility

By Stanley Muinde
Kyuso district hospital has improved a lot as compared to yester years when people could complain of poor service delivery at the facility.

It is thought that the new service charter designed by the ministry of health has contributed a lot to improved service delivery which was once an eyesore to the residents.

Support from the parent ministry in expansion of its infrastructure is also attributed to the turn-around the facility has received.

This public hospital which serves many people is approximately 500 metres away from the market. It sits on an approximate of 3 acres.Around the compound are permanent modern structures.

Other private hospitals and clinics dot the centre. It is believed that these private clinics and hospitals are usually more expensive than the public hospital where people receive services at affordable rates. However, private clinics are normally associated with quick services unlike public hospitals characterized by long queues and poor attention from health providers.

The Kyuso hospital is equipped with a functional maternity wing which offers services to expectant mothers. This has enabled women from rural areas access maternity service and reduces deaths related to it.

The hospital normally refers its cases to the next Mwingi District hospital, 60 km away. The new mortuary facility is now complete and awaiting formal opening before being used.

It is expected that more improved services will be offered in this iconic facility
